Sneedville is a small city with a population of about 1,400 people located in the north eastern corner of Tennessee.  Sneedville has one of the lowest per-capita incomes of any city in the United States.  Most people in the area earn less than $13,000 per year, and 36% of the population lives below the poverty line.

However, those numbers do not really give a true understanding of life in Sneedville.  The city is small and is surrounded on all sides by extremely mountainous terrain. Jobs are hard to come by in the town, so most receive government assistance. 

Run4Water began to work in Hancock County and Sneedville in 2010.  We have donated more and spent more time in Sneedville than in any other of our mission fields.  Below are some of our projects.

We were able to donate a new home and a necessary surgery to Jimmy Booth. We make routine visits to check on him and meet his arising needs.

We install many well pumps each year to deliver running water to residents.

Every year, we partner with Friendship Christian School and the Hancock County Rescue Squad to deliver over 1000 Thanksgiving meals to those who can not afford them for their families.

We install rain catches to collect rain water which, once purified, residents can use for drinking.

Every year, we partner with Friendship Christian School and the Hancock County Rescue Squad to invite the entire community to the Christmas Fair. Parent and children can receive Christmas gifts and necessities.

We met the Simpson family and committed to a year long home renovation. The Simpsons are some of the most kind-hearted people we've met in Sneedville, and it is a joy to give to their family.
